Srilankan Cutlets

Cutlets is appetizer made from potatoes mix with fish, meat or chicken and spices. This is one of Srilankan appetizer. Good as side dish for lunch or dinner time.Today I made from fish ( jack mackerel sardin ), and tomato sauce as dipping.
INGREDIENTS for 30 pieces :

  • 1 Can of sarden or any other boiled fish (can be replace with minced beef or chicken)
  • 500 gram boiled potatoes
  • 1  Red onion / bombay finely chopped
  • 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon chopped fennel
  • 1 Tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • Half teaspoon powdered cloves
  • Half teaspoon powdered cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Curry leaves
  • Bread crumbs (I dont have breadcrumbs this time so I replace with flour)
  • Oil for frying
DIRECTIONS:
  • Drain the water from the fish can. Free the fish  from all skin and bone and break to small pieces.
  • Mashed all potatoes. Mix with the fish.
  • Add onion, green chillies, fennel,cloves, cinnamon, lime juice, salt, pepper, egg yolk and curry leaves.
  • Then shape the mixture about 1 inch diameter ( small ball )
  • Soak in beaten egg and then coat with bread crumbs
  • Fry till golden brown.
